A trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force has crashed near Makali village of Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka.
According to IAF officials, the trainer aircraft was a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)-built 'HJT-16 Kiran' intermediate jet trainer aircraft.
The HJT-16 Kiran is a two seater trainer aircraft.
The two pilots, including a female pilot, have successfully ejected from the aircraft. A Court of Inquiry (CoI) has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the crash, the IAF has said.
This crash comes weeks (8 May) after another IAF Mig-21 fighter crashed in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, which killed three people.
The Mig-21 was on a routine training sortie.
