Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will participate in the Quad leadersโ summit with his counterparts from the United States, Australia and Japan in Washington later this month.
As per an official release from the Ministry of External Affairs, PM Modi along with Australian PM Scott Morrison, Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga and US President Joe Biden will be assessing the progress made in multiple fronts since their inaugural virtual summit in March this year.
The four will hold discussions on multiple regional issues of interest on 24th September and also assess the Covid-19 vaccination initiative flagged off in March this year.
Under the concerned plan, the four countries had decided to pool manufacturing, financing, and distribution capacity to supply one billion Covid-19 vaccine doses across the Asian continent by the end of 2022.
Meanwhile, PM Modi is also slated to address the general debate of the High-Level Segment of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on 25th September.
The theme of the summit this year is concerned around building resilience via hope to recover from Covid-19 and also issues such as the revitalisation of the United Nations, sustainable rebuild and addressing the needs of the planet, the Hindu Business Line reports.
